Description
Tasting Notes:
This wine has an intense dark coat with a dark violet tone with significant licks of burgundy. To the nose it is ample, frank and very complex, ripe berries dominate among many ageing tones, cedar, licorice, ink. It has an exquisite and measured structure, both elegant and silky, with a powerful body and a remarkable skeleton of noble well-tamed tannins and a persistent and long finish.
About Winery:
Born in 1953, Carlos Moro was raised on family’s vineyards in Ribera del Duero. He embarked upon a career in the Spanish wine industry, before founding his own company in 1988. Today he produces wines from several estates and single-vineyard sites dotted throughout Castilla y Leon. RENTO is sourced from the 2.2 hectare Hito Corto vineyard on the southern bank of the Duero River. The vineyard is farmed without chemical products and harvesting is performed by hand. The selection of grapes for the production of Rento is a twofold process, initially bunches are scrutinized, followed by a careful individual selection of the grains. Rento is mostly aged for 18 months in fifty barrels of French oak from coopers as prestigious as Taransaud, Berthomieu, Boutes, Canton.
